Standing up to Robbers, Thieves, Liars and Dream Killers

Just got a call from someone with the inside skinny on yet another SLT in a Title 1, high poverty school who's principal has yet to provide the mandated $300 stipend to its parents for work / time / energy invested in 30 hours of meetings during the last school year.

What's up with that?

A big thank you to James Calantjis for his informative blog and dedication to School Leaderhip Teams. If you have questions regarding the law or need other info / help with your SLT, be sure to check out The SLT Support Center at:

Led by a bully mayor, the DoE behaves like a gang of thugs in suits that has empowered frazzled, overpaid and inexperienced principles to do whatever they see fit inside their schools-- so long as the teachers, parents and students don't wise up and challenge them. Then the networks and "support" leaders are rolled out to dizzy everyone with double-speak and an expectation that we will all continue to drink the DoE's poisened Kool-Aid without questioning the origins of what's being handed to us, and why.

Since 2002, their experiements in education have failed too many of our children. We need only to look at our neighborhood corners, subways and streets to witness the hundreds of thousands of NYC Black, Latino and immigrant teenagers today who have been exposed to almost nine years of mayroal control and Klein's reorganizations of their schooling. The cold truth shows us the vast numbers who have been discouraged, discharged, dropped or detained by a racist, classist system that simply does not have thier best interests at heart.

No more. We, the mothers of NYC have an agenda. Enough is enough!

Join us in 2011 as we work in coalition and collaboration with other fed-up New Yorkers who take on public education governance like our chilren's very lives depend upon it--- because they do.
